Hans Karlsson 50mm adze
The cutting edge of this adze measures just under 2”, and the profile is a clean half round, with no flat in the center of its curve. If you have a moderate or large green wood project being hollowed, this half-round profile will leave tool marks which may or may not be desired for the finished work. (You can choose a flatter sweep gouge, like a 150mm, to follow up and clear the surface of tool marks for clean finishing)
The handle measures 9 1/4” and the overall length of the hand forged adze head is 6 3/4” from the cutting edge to the butt. Total weight is just about a pound & a half (24.7 oz / 0.7 kg)
Made of Swedish SS1672 steel and hardened to 56 HRC.
This is the middle-sized Karlsson adze head, good for hollowing green wood projects. Not so heavy that it would wear you out when you’re working on a moderately sized project.
Handle made of Swedish ash or elm.
Comes without a sheath.
