Lucian’s advice is to keep your axe sharp, keep the bevel flat and develop your skills over time. He also recommends starting with a smaller axe if you’re unsure which size to purchase.
Even a small axe is well designed to remove a lot of wood.
It’s better to have an axe which can be used with precision and without fatigue.
Lucian considers both the 17 & 24 oz axes, which we carry, to be smaller axes.
Both of these axes have the same general dimensions, the 24 oz axe has more heft and weight around the eye and the butt of the axe head.
